| | | 2004 Badger's Brook Shiraz/Viognier | | | Yarra Valley - $25.00 | | Our Shiraz grows down on an ancient creek bed at the rear of our property and has a rich alluvial loam type structure.
2003 was a text book year for the Yarra Valley and this estate shiraz shows how well Shiraz does here in warmer years.
The grapes were given extended maturation after crushing with a gentle pump over of the must.
The wine was then placed into a combination of French and American Oak for 2 years.
A rich full flavoured shiraz that displays cherry and blackberry characters with a hint of white pepper.
The palate is rich and quite savoury with some lovely dusty oak nuances.
The wine has an almost silky mouth feel and the tannins on the finish are now quite restrained.
This wine if cellared correctly will certainly benefit from a few years in the cellar.
